“I’m sorry..” Was one of the last things he mumbled before actually falling asleep.
“Don’t be,” Matias replied. He sighed, watching the younger nation for a moment. He wished there was more he could do, but there wasn’t much. After a few moments he picked his book back up again and continued to read.
Matias tilted his head. “Why ya actin’ embarrassed? No shame in dancin’ or likin’ a song.”
Matias shook his head. “Not at all, kiddo.” He smiled. “Ya like that song?”
Denmark looked up from his book, hearing someone enter the room. “…Erik?”
…huh. Well congratulations, ‘least I assume. She got a father?
Erik sighed slightly, setting the paper aside on the nearest nightstand, and laid down in the bed. “I’m going to nap..” He mumbled. It was hard for him to speak due to the metal in his mouth that kept him from actually speaking normally.
“Take as long as ya need.”
Iceland looked to Denmark for a second before grabbing his paper and pen to write. “I can’t… I have to do this all on my own… some how..”
Denmark frowned. “S’not how parentin’ works, Erik. Yer gonna need help one way or another.”
“I… I just wish I had never gotten pregnant.”
Matias nodded. “S’not fair. S’one thing fer it to happen to me ‘nd Berwald, we want ours ‘nd we’re prepared fer ‘em, but it shouldn’t’ve happened to ya.” He sighed. “I’m real sorry, Erik, this isn’t somethin’ that shoulda been pushed on ya like this.”
Iceland looked to Denmark for a second before grabbing his paper and pen to write. “I can’t… I have to do this all on my own… some how..”
Denmark frowned. “S’not how parentin’ works, Erik. Yer gonna need help one way or another.”
“I don’t know what to do.. I don’t even have what I need to take care of him, or a big enough apartment..” Iceland wrote before setting his notebook aside, and put his head in his hands, trying not to cry.
Matias reached over and wrapped an arm around him. “Hush, it’ll be alright. Come on now. My offer fer ya to stay here still stands. F’Berwald has a problem with it then he can deal with it. ‘Nd we’ve got some baby clothes ‘nd things ya can borrow f’ya want.”
Iceland was just barely able to mumble.. “An’ hes mine..” He said in a very quiet voice, and his words seemed a bit weird, but still.
Matias nodded. “Ja. Yer a father now.” He paused for a moment. “How’d’ya feel ‘bout that?”
Iceland didn’t feel like speaking anything else so he began to write once again. “I don’t really know.. I have mixed feelings about being a father.”
Denmark nodded. “Don’t blame ya. Bein’ a parent s’a hard thing. It’s amazin’, but hard. ‘Specially when yer not ready.”
